Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way

Murali Bashyam

“That’s life, right?”

I was talking to my dad this afternoon.  He and my mother are older, and we were talking about getting wills done and updating their healthcare power of attorneys.

That’s life, right?

Things keep moving, people close to us get older, and we have to be responsible about those who are closest to us.

My dad, who’s a bit audacious, finds humor in almost everything. So, as we were talking about wills, taking care of our bodies, doing regular exercise etc., my mom said her legs were hurting too much to do any of it.

At that exact moment, my dad said, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

As I reflect on 2019, that’s actually the perfect statement that describes our team this year.

Any immigration lawyer, law firm, or paralegal can tell you how difficult this year has been from an immigration standpoint.  This administration has been ridiculous on immigration as whole.

From inconsistent USCIS adjudications to a regular ignorance of the law, it has been a tough climate for immigration lawyers, staff, and their clients.  But, as I reflect on the year, I keep thinking about what my dad said, “where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

The ‘will’ for us and others in 2019 was simply not losing hope. We had to stay positive for ourselves and our clients, and by doing so we helped our clients with their cases and expectations.

Life is tough.  There are things within our control and a lot of things out of our control.  However, we can control how we think, what we do, and how we interact with others.

We care about what we do and how we do it.  We care about helping others, no matter the immigration climate.

Essential tools for success: a great team

Having said that, I want to personally thank our incredible team at Bashyam Shah Immigration Law Group – the team that had the will to succeed for themselves and others.
